The now derelict remains of Ashgill Head lead mine, a little north west of Harwood in Upper Teesdale, one of many 19th century mines in the North Pennines. It was worked from the 1880's to the early 1900's, and later briefly for Fluospar in 1950's and 1970's. The main mine entrance, covered by a locked gate, is in the centre of the picture, the building off to the right is the old mine shop.
